Samsung has been improving its AI-powered digital voice assistant since its launch, in 2017. While the company is actually forcing people to use Bixby instead of others, including Google Assistant, it is now bringing new features and improvements to the Bixby on Galaxy. According to the announcements, Samsung is releasing a new update to the AI-powered assistant that makes it faster and more intelligent. Additionally, the new update offers improved language recognition capabilities like Text Call support in English. Here are the details about the Bixby update…
Bixby Text Call is now available for English users
Bixby has a lot of capabilities, such as Google Assistant. The South Korean company introduced the Text Call feature with One UI 5 but limited only to Korean. Now, Samsung is updating the digital assistant to offer the Text Call in English (on phones running One UI 5.1 or One UI 4.1.1 for Korean users). Thanks to this update, Text Call can convert voice calls into text and text into audio. The Bixby Text Call is now available on the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold4, and Galaxy Z Flip4.
While the new update brings several new features, all new Bixby features will start rolling out to available phones and tablets later this month. Thanks to the upcoming update, Samsung’s AI-powered digital assistant is getting faster and more intelligent to offer a greater mobile experience.
The AI-powered digital voice assistant is now able to learn to imitate your voice. When you record different sentences in your talking, the software will create an AI-powered copy. For now, this capability is only available in Korean, but Samsung is planning to make it available globally soon.
Additionally, the voice assistant now supports a custom wake-up phrase that you can customize it on Bixby’s Settings. Also, the assistant can now remember the conversations with the user thanks to the new update. It means that Bixby can now figure out the commands clearly and your intent to answer better.
YoungJip Kim, Executive VP and Head of the AI Team at Samsung MX, said, “When Samsung first launched Bixby as a voice assistant, it was part of a vision to create a human-to-machine interface that makes life easier and can advance over time with Samsung Galaxy innovation. Today, we introduce updates to build a more intelligent interface that is proactive and adaptive, giving people greater control over their mobile experience.”
